The Bath School Massacre, also called The Bath School Disaster, is the worst mass murder that took place at a school in American history. It took place on May 18th, 1927 in Bath Township, Michigan and was perpetrated by the biggest asshole in the history of America, a real petty dickweed named Andrew Kehoe.
Kehoe is like one of those weirdos you see commenting and posting furiously on your town’s local facebook group, freaking out about taxes, critical race theory and drag queen story hour. In the early 20’s he decided that he, personally, was paying too much money in taxes and fought his way on to the local council so that he be a pain in the ass and reduce the valuation of his own property so that he paid less in taxes.
And then he set his sights on the school.
Kehoe pushed back on all spending, even on stuff that was desperately needed by the town. When that didn’t work, he started buying explosives and when the time came, he murdered his wife, blew up his house, killed his farm animals, and then headed over to the school where he detonated a timebomb in the basement, which collapsed the school and killed 38 people, mostly children. As a last move, he drove his truck up to scene, made an attempt to kill the superintendent, and then detonate a bomb in the truck that killed several more people.
