Incident at Exeter, the Interrupted Journey: Two Landmark Investigations of Ufo Encounters Together in One Volume by John G. Fuller

Info

Roswell may be ground zero for the American myth of UFO sightings, but the abduction of The Hills by an alleged UFO is where things got genuinely interesting. Before this, it was all downed space crafts and little green men but the Hill abduction marks the first published accounts of humans accosted and taken up into a space craft for experimentation. It’s also some of the first mentions of Men In Black, military cover-ups, and all the high weirdness that comes with what now recognize as a UFO abduction scenario.

The Hills supposedly came into contact with a space craft in the New Hampshire mountains in September of 1961 while returning from a vacation and became the subjects of intense criticism and speculation. When subjected to separate hypnotic regression sessions, both abductees reported details consistent with each other’s session. They had been mesmerized by the beings in the ship they saw on the highway. They were inspected and samples were taken of skin, sperm, and ovum and then they were released. When their consciousness had returned, they found that they had traveled 35 miles south of where they last remember being with no memory of the time between.

Their story has been collected into the famous non-fiction work The Interrupted Journey and was also adapted into a made for TV movie starring James Earl Jones called The UFO Incident.
