Behold a Pale Horse by Bill Cooper
Info
For better or for worse, Bill Cooper was, perhaps, the father of modern conspiracy theory as we know it. Whenever someone seriously spouts conspiracy theory about the Illuminati or the New World Order, you have Cooper to thank for it. Among his roster of outrageous belief, Cooper believed in a vast super-conspiracy that tied together everything from the Roswell Crash to the Kennedy Assassination to HIV/AIDS being a man-made virus unleashed on the population to control populations of black/hispanic/LGBT men and women and that there was a vaccine for it in a secret location. This sprawling theory of everything was published in the landmark weirdo book linked above, Behold A Pale Horse.
A resident of Texas, he used his popular radio program to broadcast these beliefs before being completely supplanted by brain pulls ripoff artist/sweaty screaming person, Alex Jones. This led to a long beef throughout the 90’s as Jones ripped off and capitalized on Cooper’s act and Cooper flaccidly accused Jones of ripping him off.
Things hadn’t been going well for Cooper in 2001, sent over the edge by the September 11th Attack, he got into several physical altercations with neighbors. He exchanged gunfire with county sheriff’s deputies sent to arrest Cooper for assault. Vowing not to be taken alive, Cooper killed one deputy before sustaining fatal injuries and dying a raving lunatic.
