Dennis Nilsen – Conversations With Britain’s Most Evil Serial Killer by Russ Coffey

Info

Dennis Nilsen was a serial killer in Scotland that murdered at least 12 victims between 1978 and 1983 in London. Nilsen is sometimes compared to Jeffrey Dahmer in that their motives and necrophilia were very similar in nature. Nilsen’s victims were exclusively male and ranged in ages from juveniles to adult. In many ways he was very similar to Jeffrey Dahmer, He was a gay man stricken with bad wiring and numerous mental illnesses that caused him to feel horribly alienated and lonely while struggling to accept his own sexuality in a time when this was almost impossible to do. He was sentenced to live in prison in 1983.

Nilsen would meet men in bars or on public transport and lured them back to his apartment at the notorious Cranley Gardens where they were then given food and booze and then strangled with a rope. Nilsen would then clean and keep the bodies in his apartment for weeks at a time, hanging out with them and sometimes masturbating while looking at them. When he was ready to dispose of them, their remains were dismembered and then either burned or stuffed down his toilet. He claims to have murdered as many as 15 but could not be connected to all of them.

Nilsen died in prison as a result of a blood clot, a side effect of surgery, in 2018. No one was terribly broken up about this.
