The Gulf Breeze Sightings by Ed Walters
UFO Abductions in Gulf Breeze by Ed Walters
Info
Beginning in November 1987, The Gulf Breeze Sentinel published a number of photos supplied to them by local contractor Ed Walters that claimed to show a UFO. For reasons unknown to this writer, UFOlogists such as Bruce Maccabee believed the photographs were genuine. Others strongly suspected them to be a hoax. If you’ve ever seen the photos, you’d agree. Local journalist and genuinely bitter dude, Craig Myers, took up the cause to investigate Walters’ harmless claims and prove that he was a quack, and unfortunately, turned up a model of the ship from the photos in the attic of the home Walters was living in at the time of his reports.
Subject of the sightings and abductee, Ed Walters, supported by MUFON, published several books chronicling his experiences with the UFOs. Following his claims, other residents of Gulf Breeze reported sightings of crafts similar to those published in Walters’ photos. The photos and Walters’ reports remain subjects of discussion and criticism in UFO circles. In spite of their involvement in the investigation, members of MUFON remain divided on the matter. Like many close encounters of this type, such as the story of Travis Walton, the story is muddled with bad photos, a ton of anecdotal evidence and high weirdness that both supports and disproves claims of alien sightings and contact.
