Info

Nazis are no strangers to Last Podcast. It was only a matter of time before they got to this one. Josef Mengele was a German SS officer and a physician at the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War 2. He is best known for his cruel and deadly human experimentation on camp prisoners and was among a panel of doctors that chose who among the prisoners would be sent to the gas chambers as they arrived at Auschwitz. For his role at Auschwitz, Mengele would come to be known as The Angel Death.

Mengele’s experiments at Auschwitz involved exposing prisoners to extreme temperatures and pressures, exposing prisoners to deadly bacteria and viruses, changing their eye colors by chemical injections, physically joining twins by sewing their flesh together, and irradiating them radiation. The reasons for these experiments were done in the service of racial hygiene and general medical study but his results were disputed even by fellow Nazi scientists as the results yielded nothing and his work reflected only base cruelty.

Mengele was transferred to another camp in the final days of World War 2, before The Red Army invaded Auschwitz and fled to South America with other Nazi was criminals where he evaded capture until his death in 1972.
