Dracula Killer: Dracula Killer by Ray Biondi

Info

Richard Trenton Chase, also known as The Vampire of Sacramento, was an absolute madman and serial killer (similar to Joseph Kallinger) whose schizophrenic delusions drove him to mutilate animals to drink their blood, at first, but as his delusions and condition worsened, he took to a gory spree of murder and mutilation, drinking the blood of his victims, and cannibalizing their remains. He was motivated by the belief that his blood was turning to powder and that much of his anatomy was either missing, or was backwards.

Between December of 1977 and January of 1978, Chase terrorized Sacramento neighborhoods, going door to door, trying to gain access to houses. If a door was unlocked, he would go inside, murder the occupants with a pistol and then consume their blood. He would sometimes have sex with the corpses or defile them with urine or feces. At the time of his arrest, filthy and insane, Chase had murdered 6 people.

Police arrested him at his apartment, a vile hovel covered in blood from floor to ceiling. Crime scene investigators claimed that nothing in the apartment was untouched by blood and parts of the carpet were saturated in a mix of human and animal blood.
