Info

Sherman Ranch is an American site best known for its reputation as a hotspot for a large variety of frightening paranormal activity involving but not limited to: UFO sightings, cryptids, and poltergeist activity. It is named for the Navajo legend of the Skinwalker, a malicious witch that is capable of shape shifting.

The site, bordering on the Ute Indian Reservation, in Uintah County has a long history among local Native American tribes and early American settlers in the region but first came to popular attention in a book published in 1974 by Frank Salisbury and Joseph Hicks called The Utah UFO Display: A Scientist’s Report. The book details the phenomenon of common UFO sightings around Utah, but particularly in Uintah Basin. See also: Dulce Base.

The ranch would come to greater public awareness with the publication of The Hunt For The Skinwalker, a book published by Colm Kelleher and George Knapp. This book goes into great detail about the challenges faced by a family of cattle ranchers, known in the book as The Gormans (later revealed to be named The Shermans), as they faced a broad spectrum of paranormal activity on their property and the deaths and mutilations of dozens of their prized cattle. The book also documents the program of study run by billionaire Robert Bigelow after his purchase of the ranch in the late 90’s and the efforts of his research group, NIDS, to document the strange happenings at the ranch until it’s sale to a new owner that wishes to remain anonymous.
